From the viewpoint of an individual worker, recent work style changes and the diversity of information environments are making it possible to work at any place at any time, free of the conventional temporal and spatial constraints. No matter how developed information networks become, however, sharing of spaces and time is still necessary for concentrating the knowledge of individuals to bring forth “creative shared knowledge.” Trust and empathy are born in a place of straight and real answers, and this is where the sharing of values and ideas begins.
Our ideal is the pursuit of workplaces that can become this kind of creative “knowledge platform.” We have in mind the kind of space that allows independent individuals to choose the best environment for their work situation. It provides the freedom to collaborate beyond the usual organizational bounds, as the project demands, and to adapt flexibly to changes in organization or technology. We seek to create an environment in which real spaces and virtual spaces interconnect seamlessly, premised on this diversity and change.
