Ours is an age that can be called both “glocal” and regional, as globalization and multipolarity are accelerating concurrently throughout the world. The question we face is how to design facilities for culture, fellowship, and commerce that will be welcomed by the public and can accommodate the activities and community people are newly demanding.
Clearly the stereotypical way of building community facilities up to now does not meet today’s demands. The need is for “something” that can attract people as a place of proactive enterprise for community building and on behalf of the local society.
In designing future facilities, we intend not to lose sight of the global perspective even in local communities, and to work closely with the client in coming up with the best answer to the needs of the people actually living in the local society.
We hope that as a result, the local activities and community will become more “participatory,” and that in the shift toward a stock-oriented society, the quality of life will be improved in ways going beyond physical abundance. We want to continue presenting the public with solutions toward these ends.
