Mashiki Town Hall

設計コンセプト

As a symbol that will lead the recovery from the earthquake disaster, this government building is a key building for urban development, equipped with functions as a disaster prevention center and an information center. By adopting a base-isolated structure, the building is designed to minimize the impact on the structure even in the event of repeated earthquakes such as the one experienced in the Kumamoto earthquake, to ensure that the building can continue to be used during disasters, and to maintain the functions of a government building so that it can quickly function as a disaster prevention center immediately after a disaster. The government building is designed as a low-rise building that is close to the earth, facing a beautiful mountain and countryside landscape rooted in the history, culture, and lifestyle of Mashiki Town, with a multipurpose space on the first floor that can be used by town residents. On the south side, an open space including a town park and a reconstruction town development support facility that also serves as a guidance facility to carry on the memory of the Kumamoto earthquake were developed. By integrating the use of the inside and outside of the government building and support facilities, an “open government building” has been realized in which the bustle of the government building is connected to the town.
