The public space of a library is a very special entity that can be extended to an existence beyond its functions through its public nature of accepting everyone and its characteristics of connecting various things. Iyo City Cultural Center and Iyo City Library, which integrates a library and a community exchange center under a large roof, is a new public space that aims to extend its function toward a third place where various places are prepared for everyone to gather and interact with each other. The large roof of the TOSHOKAN creates a wide range of relationships between different forms and affinities outside, while inside, the sense of enclosure and the various connections and places induced by the roof induce various interactions within the facility, creating a multi-layered relationship between people, facilities, and the town, like the overlapping of ripples.
