The Sannohe District Funeral Home, located in Sannohe Town, Sannohe County, Aomori Prefecture, was designed to respect the familiar landscape of the hometown and to carry on the memory of the land by integrating the large roof covering the cremation furnace with the surrounding hills without creating an oppressive feeling. Inside, the large wooden structure supporting the main roof is illuminated with characteristic pendant and indirect lighting, creating a space that warmly welcomes the bereaved family and creates a sense of solemnity.
