Bajikouen (Phase 1 / Tokyo 2020 Equestrian Venue)

設計コンセプト

Since its opening in 1940, the JRA Bajikouen has been a center for the promotion of horse racing, and has hosted a wide range of national and international horse racing competitions and events. The park has long been popular as a place where people can enjoy the precious greenery of the city and have contact with horses. Following the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, this project is a plan to upgrade the facilities to meet international standards and renew the aging facilities in response to the selection as the venue for the Tokyo 2020 Games. The aim is to create a new park that will be a center of Japanese culture and sporting events, a place to be proud of in the world, and a place that will be familiar to local residents. The basic concept of the new park is 1) to strengthen the functionality of the stadium, 2) to create a park that will be loved by people, people and horses, and 3) to create a “space” suitable for a center of Japanese culture and culture of sports. The plan is based on three basic concepts: 1. a “fit-out” that is appropriate for the cultural and social center of Japan’s sporting events.
